Sagu Mauler

Silver Border Rules

Hey Mark, unrules question. I play Protean Raider, a creature with a hat in its art, and use its ability to copy Sagu Mauler, who is hatless. Since this is Unrules, the card still has a hat in its art even as a copy - does it have menace if I have Goblin Haberdasher out?

In silver border play, a card copying another card is considered to copy all attributes including art.

Trample in Non-Traditional Colors

I understand that prowess is not black or green, but trample isn't blue and on Sagu Mauler. Would a red black or blue green card have prowess if it makes sense at rare? Or is it still too new to need to test those waters?

Trample is tertiary in White, Blue and Black creatures. If it’s big enough, we’re allowed to contemplate adding trample.

Strictly Worse Comparisons

It just occurred to me that Snowhorn Rider is, in many ways, "strictly worse" than Sagu Mauler. Does design not care about that anymore?

We’ve never cared about strictly worse. Alpha had numerous strictly worse cards all in the same set.
