Rules Ambiguity

The Magic word "counter" can mean either of two things in the rules. Shouldn't one of these be changed to avoid ambiguity? Why not "cancel" to replace the "counter" in counterspells?

Both terms are pretty ingrained. Luckily they don’ get used in a way that often causes confusion.

Mindslavers and Magic Word

What about if Player A Mindslavers Player B, and Player B controls Magic Word? Can Player A force Player B to whisper/not whisper the chosen word, because it's a cost (as opposed to part of resolving the not-quite-triggered-ability of Gotcha)? What about physical actions, like doing the hokey pokey or flicking their cards?

You can’t force a Mindslavered player to say anything in particular or force them to perform a specific physical action.

Magic Word Trivia

It's my birthday Mark. May I have trivia about my favorite card (Magic word)?

Early on we were going to pick a word, but I finally said it would be more fun to let the caster pick their own word. Happy Birthday!

Terminology Misconceptions

RE: "A big part of the problem is that 'regenerate', the Magic word, no longer means what 'regenerate', the English word, means." I - and many new players I've encountered - have the same problem with "protection." I feel protection is Magic's other huge misnomer. It bothers me to no end that my protection from White creature dies to a Day of Judgement, a White spell. I'm used to it now, but it still doesn't make sense. It's too bad R&D can't rename it to something like Resistance or Resilience.

Don’t “resistance” or “resilience” have the same Wrath of God problem?
