Kobolds of Kher Keep

Tokens with Card Names

On the tokens with names of actual cards issue, Prossh creates Kobolds of kher keep tokens. I think it might be flavorful and a way of reusing old cards, to do it sometimes.

That was a Commander set and the tokens were vanilla creatures. It’s a pretty narrow window outside future-shifted cards.

Creature Cards as Tokens

Kobolds of Kher Keep is both a creature card and the name of a token, so I don't see why it couldn't be done again.

Good point.

Color Indicator Rules Insight

Regarding color indicators: I think what he meant by Crystal Spray being unable to affect certain cards is that it can't change Kobolds of Kher Keep to Blue or Dryad Arbor to Red because they use a color indicator now rather than have their color due to rules text. I learned this the hard way when someone Natural Ordered sacrificing their Dryad Arbor with Blood Moon out. Blood Moon used to make Dryad Arbor colorless since it removed the "is green" rules text.

The rules didn’t actually let you change it before the color indicator although many did not realize this.

Commander Tokens Consideration

Was it ever considered to include token cards in the Commander decks? I like the oversized cards, but it would be really nice to have some Kobolds of Kher Keep and an X/X beast token.

It’s a matter of space on the printing sheets and product costs. I do know we try to include thorns when we can work out the issues above.
