Escaped Shapeshifter

Protection from Everything Query

If your opponent has a card with protection from everything, does Escaped Shapeshifter get protection from all colors?

No. It only copies protection specifically from a color(s).

Design Space Inquiry

It occurs to me that "pick a keyword" Eternal cards like Animus of Predation, Cairn Wanderer, Escaped Shapeshifter, etc. have to list all the relevant keywords, but Acorn cards can lean on you-know-what-I-mean language like "choose a creature keyword." So my question: is that actually fruitful design space?

There’s some design space, not as much as people probably think though.

Rules Precision

For the question about Cairn Wanderer, Death-Mask Duplicant, and Escaped Shapeshifter, could it be worded "____ has all non-triggered, non-activated abilites of all things ___"?

The rules need a little more specificity than that. : )

Keyword Wording Challenge

The next time a card comes around like Escaped Shapeshifter, Death-Mask Duplicant, or Cairn Wanderer, have you guys found a way to futureproof the wording yet?

No. The rules (currently) can’t handle a generic term for keywords. They have to be spelled out.

Blue Creature Growth

You said in a previous answer: "Blue is supposed to be reactive and slow in that it wants to use knowledge to win which requires time". If that's true, why don't we see more maros and goyfs in blue? Wouldn't weenie versions of Cairn Wanderer and Escaped Shapeshifter be the quintessential blue creatures?

Green is the growth color not blue so green tends to have more of the creatures that grow over time. Blue does get a little (Maro is both a blue and green thing) but the goal isn’t to make it easy for blue by just giving it creatures that get real good while it’s sitting around making nothing happen.
