Sacrifice Abilities Mechanics

Why do artifacts with sacrifice abilities like Guild Globe, Scalding Cauldron and Food token seem to default to including tap in their activation cost, even though they're always untapped, barring your opponent playing something like Blind Obedience?

It implies you have to use them.

White's Iconic Abilities

When did White start consistently getting the Blind Obedience and Imposing Sovereign ability?

In Alpha on a card called Karma. : ) NOTE: Oops. I meant “In Legends, on a card called Kismet.”

Standard relevant guild mechanic cards: Ghor Clan Rampager (bloodrush), Firefist Striker, Frontline Medic (battalion), Rakdos Cackler (unleash), Varolz the Scar Striped (gives scavenge), Mizzium Mortars, Cyclonic Rift (Overload), Rootborn Defenses, Trostani, Selesnya's Voice (populate), Blind Obedience (extort, borderline). Evolve, Cipher and Detain have not produced standard-quality cards.

Experiment One (with evolve) has seen Standard play.

Life-Gain in Standard

Is it correct to say that Standard with Blind Obedience, Obzedat, Azorius Charm, Centaur Healer, Sphinx's Revelation, Trostani, Rhox Faithmender, Thragtusk and Huntmaster of the Fells is the most life-gain-centric Standard we're going to see?

I’d say the pendulum is pretty far in life gain’s favor right now.
