Avoid Fate

Color Pie Violation

What is your pick for biggest color pie violation in the game? Mine goes to Avoid Fate because it's both mechanically and flavorfully a big miss.

The flavor is off, but the mechanic is only a bend. Green can’t counter spells, but it can grant a creature hexproof was is gameplay-wise very similar. I’m not sure what spell is the farthest off in name *and* mechanics. What do you all think?

Green Counterspell Possibility

do you think it's possible for green to have counterspells if it is conditional? (i.e. Avoid fate, Dash hopes)

Green can grant hexproof to creatures at instant speed.

Pie-breaking Countermagic

I hope you're having a blast in Italy, even if it's not the season for jorts! I had a question about colour pie, specifically why so many counterspells have been printed in Green and Red. It's more than just a one time thing with Guttural Response, there's also Avoid Fate, Burnout, Pyroblast, and Red Elemental Blast. Is there a reason why they were targetted for so much pie-breaking (I think?) countermagic over the years?

Most of the cards you mention are early cards back before we wrangled the color pie. The few new ones are nods back to the old days that shouldn’t have been done.
