Unfinity Collector Requests

New 03 Oct 2022 Asked by jeffsachs 32 Comments

Hey Mark,

I want to thank you for giving Unfinity Collector Boosters a "list" slot. This is going to help me in my dream of making a fully foiled all un-card Commander deck (to get the best use of Super Secret Tech). I would like to request foil printings of: Timmy, Power Gamer; Strategy, Schmategy; Bronze Calendar; Jack-in-the-Mox; Checks and Balances; Common Courtesy; Free-for-All; Cheatyface; and Underdome.

In addition the following are really hard to get a hold of in foil and could use a reprint: Johnny, Combo Player; Who/What/When/Where/Why; Gleemax; Mox Lotus; City of Ass; Super Secret Tech.Thank you for all you've done for silly magic!

You’re welcome. I wish you the best of luck in your mission.

Un-Rules Query

Un-Rules Question. If I roll a 6 when casting Strategy, Schmategy, causing me to roll the die two more times, and then roll a 1, do I roll the die a second time and apply the appropriate effect, or does Strategy, Schmategy just resolve without effect? Similarly, what happens if I roll a 6, then any number from 2 to 4, and then a 1?

1 just means that die roll has no effect. It does not stop other die rolls from having an effect.

Multiple Dice Rolls

Given that you're the Un-Rules Manager, can you explain how getting a 1 when getting multiple rolls with Strategy, Schmategy works? I would assume you just keep the non1 rolls, but I don't know.

If you get multiple die rolls, 1 just means that roll is a dud, it doesn’t stop the other rolls from having effects.

On Strategy, Schmategy, if I roll a six, then a five, then a one, what happens?

You get the 5 effect. 1 doesn’t stop other effects.

Unglued Egg Reasoning

Before your answer about Strategy, Schmategy, it never occurred to me to wonder why an egg for Unglued. I honestly thought it made perfect sense--glue; egg. But now I must ask: WHY AN EGG??

Because Unglued had a chicken theme.

Rejected Symbols Anecdote

New 21 Jul 2012 Asked by ketermuls 2 Comments

Got any stories about rejected set symbols?

The art on Strategy, Schmategy in Unglued is a parody of the art for Wheel of Fortune from Alpha. The symbols on the wheel were all expansions symbols considered but not used for Unglued. The artist Daniel Gelon works at Wizards and was the one who did all the layout work for the cards in Unglued.
