Recoup

Recoup's Sorcery Limitation

Was there a reason that the card Recoup only affects sorceries instead of both sorceries and instants?

Red has a theme of affecting sorceries in the graveyard.

Color Pie Boundaries

I think Snapcaster Mage breaks the color pie nearly as much as hornet sting. Recoup has always been a red effect hasn't it?

Red casting instants and sorceries out of the graveyard is something we let red do from time to time especially with flashback.

Recoup in Sorin vs. Tibalt

Was it really necessary to include Recoup in Sorin vs. Tibalt? All that showed was how screwed over red mages were in Innistrad that something along the lines of that spell wouldn't be printed (instead we got Past in Flames which was too expensive and only helped out a deck that everyone says they hate). And it couldn't be because that would have been too powerful because blue still got Snapcaster Mage then!

Recoup is in modern color pie. I’ve even said in this blog, that I wish I had thought to talk to Tiago Chan and tried to convince him to print Snapcaster Mage as a red card.

Snapcaster Mage Origins

Did you ever consider making Snapcaster Mage red (or blue-red)? Since red really likes to play with the graveyard using flashback (Shaman's Trance, Past in Flames, Recoup etc).

If I had made Snapcaster Mage from scratch, I would have made it a red card. Why is it blue? For one, I didn’t make it, it was designed by Tiago Chan, winner of the last Magic Invitational. Tiago made it blue and we tried to keep the card to his vision. I do wish I has asked him about changing it to red to see if the idea interested him.
