Pyrohemia Color Pie

Pyrohemia is perfectly in-pie, right?

The second part is way more red than the first part, but yes, the card is in color pie.

Mr. Rosewater, is Pestilence/Pyrohemia in-color-pie for both black and red nowadays?

It’s in red now.

Pestilence Reprint Status

New 18 May 2019 Asked by fakenewvegasfan 18 Comments

If or when: a reprint for pestilence? I assume pyrohemia fits better into the current color but having 2 cards do functionally the same thing but one having the classic border just irks me

I don’t see Pestilence showing up in any set that adds it to a format it’s not currently in.

Colorshifted Reprints Feasibility

New 10 Feb 2019 Asked by injuryman 38 Comments

One of my favorite things about Planar Chaos was how some cards were Colorshifted into where the color pie says they probably should have been to begin with (Like Pyrohemia or Prodigal Pyromancer). Do you think there's enough breaks/heavy bends to support a set that has a high number of Colorshifted functional reprints?

There’s not as many of these types of cards as you’d think. Nowhere near enough to be the major focus of a set.

Pyrohemia Name Origin

New 05 Aug 2018 Asked by thesharkupon 32 Comments

It's my birthday, Maro, so for my question, I'd like to ask about the card Pyrohemia. Specifically, where does its name come from?

Pyrohemia - pyro is Latin for “fire” and hemia is Latin for blood, so the name little means “Blood of Fire”. Happy Birthday!

Pyrohemia Reprint Possibility

New 26 Aug 2016 Asked by thespiritlibrary 20 Comments

Is Pyrohemia a card we could see printed today, or would it be color shifted // rarity shifted // Changed in another way?

Red is the proper color, color piewise, I can’t speak if the power level is correct.

Effect Color Distribution

New 11 Feb 2013 Asked by sarroth 4 Comments

Is the Pestilence/Pyrohemia effect both black and red? I'd think it was black only if it gained life as well, but Pestilence Demon saw print recently suggesting it is still a black effect too. How so when black also gets drain life effects and mass destruction?

It’s a black effect. Pyrohemia is from Planar Chaos, the set that experimented with an alternate reality where the color pie had played out differently.
