Hypothetical Rules Change

New 30 Apr 2024 Asked by rtk1357 25 Comments

Hi Mark! Random rules hypothetical for you; if the rules allowed players to cast spells and use abilities in between the resolution of different parts of a card (e.g. flash in Orcish Bowmasters after the damage of Shake the Foundations resolved but before they draw a card), would it break the game?

The hypothetical assumes you can do something that would normally break the game, but the hypothetical assumes it can be done, so in the parallel universe where the hypothetical is true, I have no idea because we’re in uncharted space.

Reprint Name Possibility

Hey Mark,Regarding cards like Dino DNA, Orcish Bowmasters, and Life Finds A Way, would a potential reprint require a new name? Or, since the names are generic enough, could they be reprinted “as-is,” just maybe with new art?

If the name is non-property specific, we can (most likely) use it as a reprint.

Reprinting Universes Beyond

Quick question about generically named Universes Beyond cards like Orcish Bowmasters and Reprieve. If these cards are ever reprinted, will they have to recieve new names because they are stamped with the Universes Beyond holofoil marker, or are they fine to be reprinted with only new art?

If the name is not using IP specific words, we can most likely reprint it with the same name.

Orcish Bowmasters Color

Wouldn’t orcish bowmasters fit better in red? Orcs are in red&black in this set, and it mechanically feels more red

In the main set, Orcs are monoblack or black/red, but not monored.

Orcish Bowmasters Color

Why is Orcish Bowmasters black and not red? It isn't that black can't do the effect, but it seems way more at home in red decks.

I assume it’s black because they wanted it to be an Orc and, in the main set, the Orcs are black (or black/red) and the Goblins are red (although there are monored cards with the Amass Orc mechanic).
