Were Evil Eye of Orms-By-Gore and Evil Eye of Urborg intended to be based on Dungeons and Dragons' Beholders?

I’d say influenced by. They were clearly not Beholders.

A Beholder ? I thought that's what the Evil Eye of Urborg (Time Spiral block ?) was ?!? 😅

Beholders are a bit more than just a giant floating eye.

Eye Gouge Logic

Why doesn't Eye Gouge destroy Evil Eye of Orms-By-Gore or Evil Eye of Urborg? Are they too big to gouge?

Um, yeah. I mean, ask Doug.

Shouldn't Eye Gouge kill instantly Evil Eye of Orms-by-Gore and Evil Eye of Urborg ? :-)

In a perfect world. : )

Evil Eye Trivia

Hey Maro, my daughter accidentally scratched my cornea... any trivia about Evil Eye of Orms-by-gore? And why arent there more "eye" cteatures (would have been great for Theros)

Besides Evil Eye of Orms-by Gore, there was also Evil Eye of Urborg in Time Spiral which was a nod to Evil Eye of Orms-by-Gore. We felt Magic should have a set of eyes.  Eyes aren’t really supported any more because, well, we feel we can do better than a flying giant eyeball when making threatening monsters. : ) Hope your eye heals quickly.
