Compelling Deterrence

Compelling Deterrence Judgment

Follow up: is Compelling Deterrence from Shadows over Innistrad a bend or break as it’s a mono blue card that can makes a player discard a card?

It’s a pretty big bend.

Instant Discard Rules

In the general case 'Instant Discard' is not a thing, but what about the more specific case of "Recoil" and "Compelling Deterrence"? Is bounce+discard still an allowable thing with instant timing?

We do do instant discard just very infrequently.

Blue Discards Conditionally

Blue has had actual discard (albeit conditional) as recently as SOI with Compelling Deterrence. I get that discard variants where you choose a card from an opponent's hand to get rid of are out of blue's color pie now. But is blue still allowed to do single-card discard as long as the opponent gets to choose the card to discard and it isn't aggressively costed? (As a bonus, this could be another much-needed mechanical overlap between blue and black, for hybrid cards and such.)

We do some forced looting in blue.
