Red's Restrictions

You said, "Red can’t “destroy” non-artifact colorless creatures." Well, you just made Fissure, Aftershock, Cinder Cloud, Fleshpulper Giant, Lava Flow, Mogg Assassin, Nosy Goblin, and Stark of Rath cry.

When I talk about the color pie, I always mean currently. Yes, there are often examples from past where we did something we would no longer do.

Reprints Color Bleed

How do you feel about reprint products using color bleed cards? Harmonize and Chaos Warp pop up frequently in multiplayer products, and Vintage Masters had Desert Twister, Aftershock, and some other offenders. Is that less damaging?

I’m not happy but I prefer it to making even more color pie breaking cards.

Aftershock's Design Philosophy

If you think anarchy is such a big mistake how did you let Aftershock get into tempest where you were the lead designer?

The big issue with Anarchy is it let red destroy enchantments which Aftershock does not do. Yes, it “destroys target creature” which we wouldn’t do today, but we hadn’t yet made the jump at the time that red should only destroy creatures through direct damage.
