Kraken Hatchling

Blocking Cantrip Mechanic

Playing off of the cantrip blocking mechanic, what about a mechanic that says "Whenever this creature blocks, draw a card." You could put it on Kraken Hatchling-sized creatures and make them cost more.

It too heavily encourages the opponent from attacking. One creature could have this ability every once in a while but we don’t want to do it all the time which is necessary for an evergreen keyword mechanic.

Defender Trait Query

Do you know the reason why Kraken Hatchling was not given defender? In general, do you think giving defender to creatures with 0 power makes them easier to grok?

The reverse. Having less words is better. If the 0 power mostly keeps them from attacking, why add the extra vocabulary word?
