Instill Energy

First Limited at World Championships

What year and which expansion was the first limited at the World Championships?

The second ever World Championships in 1995, held in Seattle, had a limited component. It was sealed and the players were given a whole bunch of packs. I don’t know the exact mix, but I believe it included a bunch of Fourth Edition in it as Ivan Curina, from Italy, (who made the Top 8) got Channel, Instill Energy, and Colossus of Sardia which allowed him to attack with a 9/9 on turn three.

Instill Energy Oracle Misunderstanding

New 18 Mar 2021 Asked by towel-guy 19 Comments

I think I have found one inconsistency in the oracle, Instill Energy oracle's text reads "Enchanted creature can attack as though it had haste." but all versions of the card have the old "can attack the turn it comes into play./unnafected by summoning sickness" is this intended?

I’m not sure what you are asking.

Instill Energy Explanation

New 10 Mar 2019 Asked by itsnotsafetogoalone 28 Comments

I have a question about Instill Energy. It reads as following "Enchanted creature can attack as though it had haste" Does that mean it can't use any tap ability as well or does Instill Energy simply give pseudo haste?

It only has haste for purposes of attacking, not for tap abilities.

Instill Energy Relevance

Is 'Instill Energy' from Alpha still something you could do today?

Green untaps as a one shot but not repeatedly. Also, being tertiary in haste means Green occasionally has creatures with haste but it seldom grants haste.

Haste's Color History

I can't figure out how to leave notes, but can you point out to the guy who asked about Haste in Black that Black has had Haste since Alpha, which is quite a bit longer than Red has had it?

There was actually two cards that had haste in Alpha. One was a black creature (Nether Shadow) and one was a green aura (Instill Energy).

Twiddle's Color Identity

New 22 Mar 2012 Asked by philosophile42 2 Comments

Twiddle was blue... Is it still blue? Was Untapping effects green (instill energy e.g)? If twiddle was reprinted in a new color, what color would you make it? Or does it combine two things that aren't really defined by the modern color pie?

Tapping or untapping is blue. Tapping is white. Untapping is in the process of shifting so I don’t want to pin it down right now.
