Gush

Design Insight

As someone who is not a fan of UB in general and against mechanically unique UB cards, I must say that I'm impressed by Doctor Who cards; you can really see how much love and effort was put into it and it's always lovely to hear people gush/explain things they're passionate about. And hopefully it'll also spark some more love for time-shenanigans mechanics like suspend and cute self-recursive cards like Heaven Sent.

There really are lots of designs that would never happen if not for a Universes Beyond inspiration.

Is gush fair? It's just stroke of genius for 2

Gush is restricted in Vintage and banned in Legacy. So, I’ll call it “not fair”. : )

Handling Creative Secrets

Mark, I need some professional advice. Like you, I work in a creative field, and I'm not allowed to talk about my projects outside of work. How do you deal with the pressures of keeping secrets, especially when something is SO AWESOME you just want to gush about it, or when something's frustrating you and you're really concerned about it?

You just have to delay the excitement. You will get to tell people… eventually. I just focus on what I’m doing now knowing that one day it’ll happen.

Complex Card Analysis

I just learned there is an entire book written on just the card Gush. How do you feel about cards that have so much play to them that entire books can be written on their use.

As the creator of Gush, I was a little blown away. I’m tempted to write a whole article on the design of Gush.
