Decree of Pain

Decree of Pain Analysis

In terms of black's color pie and card-draw, what of Decree of Pain? Is that still considered acceptable? If you don't control any creatures when you cast it, the draw is all-upside.

It’s a bend, not something we do often.

Comparison of Decree of Pain

Out of curiosity why was decree of pain allowed to draw off all creatures dying yet Kaya's Wrath only had a one sided life gain feature?

We change things up.

Color Pie Clarification

Damnation is a colorpie break since wrath effects are a white thing, correct? If so, is Decree of Pain a colorpie break?

Black is allowed in its col r pie to do mass creature kill. Not every ability is limited to one color.

Damage vs Destruction

I disagree that high number damage is the same as destroy. An example would be protection. A pro-red creature would survive Act while a pro-black creature dies to Decree of Pain.

It’s not identical but feels very similar. Trying to make colors feel different is all about perception.

Black Card Draw

Can Black still get card draw through methods such as Decree of Pain?

Black can get gain through the pain or destruction of others.

Black Wrath Effects

I see my question about black wrath effects caused some stir. Good. Anyway, what I meant was, are unconditional wrath effects in black? Other than Damnation, black wrath effects tend to be conditional (extinguish all hope) or profit off of the death of creatures (decree of pain). So, my question is: Are equalizing wrath effects such as wrath of god or supreme verdict really in black?

We don’t do many vanilla wraths because we like mixing it up and there is always great flavor in black mass kill.
