Congregate

Song of All Credits

Did you have any work crafting any of the cards with Song of All in their text box, like the Urza block cards Congregate, Planar Birth, Serra’s Embrace, or the Voice of [ideal] mega cycle? Easily my favorite flavor texts as they were one of the first things I read when I was learning Magic that alluded to the broader lore, and it hooked me.

I had a hand in most of those card’s designs, but didn’t have anything to do with the Song of All flavor text.

Creature Types and Colours

The D&D sets seem to be full of Blue Elves, Green Orcs, etc, ostensibly because of D&D's intentional shift to portray race as not determinative of what someone is capable of in life. Could we see a shift in this direction in Magic regularly as well?

We can do some of this, but there is a strong mechanical reason to want to congregate creature types to a particular color or colors.

Player Complaint Dynamism

I know the power ebbs and flows and that social media has a power to congregate certain groups of people with similar opinions, but in your experience was there a time when players complained more than in the last 1-2 years?

Yes. Social media just makes it a bit more visible to all now.

Congregate Use Case

New 20 Aug 2013 Asked by thebiggestz 9 Comments

I was under the impression that such as divination say "Draw 2 cards" instead of "Target player draws two cards" for the sake of simplicity and elegance. Why then does Congregate allow you to have an opponent gain life? If there some synergy there I am not noticing?

The card was made for multiplayer where you might want to give life to another player.
