Could tamer silver border cards that care about dice rolling such as Chittering Doom and Snickering Squirrel be reprinted into black border?

It hasn’t been discussed yet.

Socketed Sprocketer Planar Die Query

New 02 Jun 2022 Asked by stormtide-leviathan 24 Comments

un-ruling question: So some background first. There are some cards that care about simply rolling a die (any die), but others that care about the numerical results. The official ruling is that in a plane-chase game, rolling the planar die works with the former but not the latter since it doesn't have a numerical result. So my question relates to sprocketed socketer. It says "You may uninstall a result from Socketed Sprocketer to use it for a die you rolled." Can I uninstall a result from the sprocketer to use it for the planar die, to make it have a numerical result for cards that care about that? For example, if I roll the planar die, can I uninstall a 4 from sprocketed socketer to make a squirrel with the card Chittering Doom?

No. Socketed Sprocketer can only use the die for a numerical die roll. A Planar Die can’t roll a 4.

D20 Mechanic and Card Interaction

New 30 Jun 2021 Asked by spaceyjdjames 38 Comments

Do cards like Krark's Other Thumb, Chittering Doom, and As Luck Would Have It interact with the D20 mechanic in AFR?

Some do and some don’t. It depends whether it says “die” or “six-sided die”. If it says “die”, it works with twenty-sided dice.

Dice Roll Impact on Tokens

Hello MaRo! So, I made a Pipa commander so that I could finally achieve a cheap squirrel deck(I always liked squirrels in MTG, but the normal sets never gave much to work with), and I was thinking: if I have Chittering Doom on the battlefield and I roll a die and get a number higher than 4, and use Pipa to reroll this die and get a number higher than 4 again, do I get 2 squirrel tokens? If the second number is lower than 4, do get 1 token?

No, you only get to count one die roll. If you reroll a die, the first roll doesn’t count. So, no matter what you do, you can never get more than one Squirrel creature token.

Unstable Draft Joy

New 01 Jan 2018 Asked by j-t-wolf 38 Comments

I preordered a box of Unstable and I finally did a draft with my friends for New Year's Eve. One guy was new to the game and most of us don't draft at all but everyone had a fun time. The best part for me was when I was at 20 and my girlfriend was at 1 and she proceeded to kill me with Lobe Lobber, Krark's Other Thumb, Chittering Doom, and a few squirrels from earlier over the course of my turn and hers. Now she want to make a full squirrel deck. Thank you for a wonderful day.

You’re welcome. I’m always happy to see a new Squirrel convert. : )

Squirrel-powered Mechanics

New 17 Dec 2017 Asked by andtheneverybodydies 17 Comments

Does Squirrel-powered scheme work with cards like Willing Test subject and Chittering Doom or do they only care about the straight die roll?

It works with all cards that care about die roll results.

Game Mechanics Query

If I have Krark's Other Thumb out and Chittering Doom, will Doom see both die rolls or just the one I choose to not ignore?

Just the one you choose not to ignore.

Dice Roll Outcomes

New 26 Nov 2017 Asked by tarectarec 12 Comments

In your FAQ you said that As Luck Would Have It would get counters from the original dice in case of a reroll. But would Chittering Doom give me a squirrel token if I rolled a 6 but then decided to reroll it (Rolling a 1 this time for example)?

No. Counting die rolls is different than triggering things based upon on a particular outcome.
