Boros Charm

Two-Color Cards Properties

New 18 Nov 2020 Asked by hyalgor 41 Comments

Boros Charm is a well known example of a two-color card that is also squarely in the domain of a third color (here black). Are there any other examples of a color pair doing something a third color could do by itself?

There’s not a lot.

Lucky Charms Explained

What do people mean when they say "lucky charms" as of late? I thought "lucky charms" referred to a UWR deck from Gatecrash Standard that used Boros Charm, Azorius Charm, and Izzet Charm.

Lucky charm is a nickname for any artifact that gains you 1life when you play a particular color spell. The first cycle of lucky charms was in Alpha (Ivory Cup, Crystal Rod, Throne of Bone, Iron Star & Wooden Sphere).

Evolutionary Game Change

I know the "humans don't like change" thing and all, and I have been trying to be pacient about everything going on (from control's death to new slivers, rules changes and so on). But it seems I am not the target audience of mtg anymore, which makes me sad. Last friday I went to an FNM and seeing Voice of Resurgence, Cavern of Souls, Boros Charm and everything just didn't feel right. I ended up not playing. I'm not enjoying the game anymore. Wil there ever be a change that older players like?

I get letters all the time from people who left the game and have recently come back about how happy they are with all the changes Magic has gone through in their absence. I think sometimes people get so close to every little change that it’s hard to step back and see how far the game has come. I also get a lot of letters from players who apologize for sending me mean letters about some change they couldn’t stand only to find out that in the long run they actually liked the change. I’m not saying every player will love every change, but I do believe that we as a whole are constantly improving the game and making it better.

Boros Charm Discussion

Was it a good idea to give "Permanents you control are indestructible this turn" to Boros Charm? It makes all symmetrical destruction white effects so black-feeling.

What’s not white about it protecting your stuff? That’s a pretty front page white effect.
