Augur of Autumn

Art Modifications

Hi Mark, after listening to your podcast on Designing for Art it made me wonder if slush art has been/is ever touched up or modified for the set it’s going to be used in? The card Augur of Autumn got me wondering since it seems like it could be slush art. The person featured in it has elf ears but Innistrad has no elves.

Usually slush art is used as is, but with the artist’s approval/help, it’s possible we could slightly tweak it. I have no idea if Augur of Autumn was ever slush art.

Preference in Card Templating

Hey Mark! A little feedback on Future Sight effect templating. I vastly, vastly prefer the old template where you play with the top card of your library revealed (Future Sight, Oracle of Mul Daya, Courser of Kruphix). I find it annoying to play with the new template (Bolas's Citadel, Mystic Forge, Augur of Autumn), since it always leads to one player staring at the other as they check the top of their library over and over and over.

The reason we prefer it is to keep hidden information in the game. If my opponent always sees the top card of my library, they (eventually) know everything in my hand, and that’s just less fun gameplay.

Playing Cards from Library

You had "playing cards from the top of your library" as primary for none, and secondary for all. We've seen this effect almost exclusively done in Green. We even have Ranger Class, Realmwalker, and Augur of Autumn in Standard right now as the only three with the ability to play cards off the top. Are we to expect this in other colors to start trickling in soon, or should the original statement be changed to reflect Green as primary?

Don’t confuse who’s allowed to do it with who has done it most, especially on really rare abilities.
