Defender Mythic Rare Creature Count

New 08 Jan 2022 Asked by zackdes44 41 Comments

How many Mythic Rare creatures with defender do you think have been printed?

It depends how you want to count it. Five creature cards with defender have been printed in a set at mythic rare, but one of those is a Wall of Blossoms from a From the Vault, so probably most people would say four.

Color Shifted Wall Request

Can blue get a color shifted Wall of Omens/Wall of Blossoms?

I’m not sure of the stats/mana cost, but it definitely can have a defender with an ETB draw card effect.

Grandfathering Modern Cards

Have you/WotC ever considered "grandfathering" cards into Modern if they have color shifted versions of them? (ex. Wall of Blossoms isn't modern legal, but Wall of Omens is.)

It’s like you don’t know me at all. : )

Green Card Drawing

New 13 Mar 2017 Asked by gophilipbowles 35 Comments

"Green tends to have its card drawing tied to creatures more elaborately than just having the effect on a creature." Green has the largest number of cantrip creatures (Wall of Blossoms, Elvish Visionary etc.), which amounts to "just having the effect on a creature", so surely the Overbeing card draw is just an extension of that? Especially as green also has self-bounce to reuse these abilities.

Every color has access to cantrips. It’s drawing more than one card that’s the issue.

Green Philosophy Insight

BIRTHDAY TRIVIA: Anything on Druids, Wall of Blossoms, or Green color philosophy? Thank you for being a part of my favorite game. I've been playing since '95 and I hope to play for a long time to come

Green has proven to be the trickiest color to nail down philosophically. I keep making tweaks to my shorthand for it. My latest is it wants Growth through Acceptance.Happy Birthday!

Wall Card Shift

New 09 Aug 2013 Asked by mongrel714-blog-blog 5 Comments

Seeing the newest Tales from the Pit made me wonder, why was Wall of Blossoms effectively replaced by Wall of Omens? Why was that card shifted from green, the second best at card advantage, to white, which to my knowledge ranks second to last (over red) in card advantage?

White is better at defensive walls and every color gets cantrips.
