Viashino Skeleton

Ravnica's Color Dynamics

New 19 May 2017 Asked by chetskolos 30 Comments

What is the likelyhood of revisiting Ravnica (or an other heavy mulit-color plane) with there being no multi-color cards. Instead each card would count as only one color (or colorless), but it could have abilities with mana costs other than its color. For example, Wild Research, Viashino Skeleton, Burning Oil, Desolation Giant, and Sedge Sliver are all red cards that are better when not playing mono-red.

There are worlds to do that in. Ravnica would not be my first choice. Gold and Ravnica are pretty intertwined.

Worst Cards

So, what are some worse cards than Viashino Skeleton? :)

Sorrow’s Path, Wood Elemental, Mudhole to name a few.

Card Ratings

The highest rated card on Gatherer is Ancestral Recall, from Alpha/Beta/Unlimited. The lowest rated card on Gatherer is Viashino Skeleton from Shards of Alara. Comments?

I believe Ancetrsal Recall is a slightly better card Viashino Skeleton. And by “slightly better”, I mean “way, way, way more overpowered than”.

Creature Name Coincidence

So, today my friends Momir Basic, and we discovered that Viashino Skeleton has the same name and creature type. Was this an intentional design choice? Do you know if this is the only creature this is true of? I couldn't figure out a way to look this up. Thanks!

It’s actually true of a handful of creatures. I don’t know how to look it up.
