Seal of Removal

Satisfaction with Seals

Would play design be more satisfied with Seals if their mana cost was 0 and they had an additional cost (e.g. U for Seal of Removal, 2B for Seal of Doom, etc) for their sacrifice?

Having mana activations helps with the strategic issue, but not the hidden information issue.

Problematic nature of Seals

Are seals (enchantments that can be sacrificed - no extra mana needed - to produce an effect) problematic for standard? I wish there were more seals, like some 1-mana seal that grants hexproof... the addition of seal of removal in modern was really fun.

Seals have two big issues:1) They lack hidden information which increases complexity and decreases surprise.2) They lack a mana gate which lessens strategic decisions.

Request for More Seal Effects

May I request more "Seal" effects that don't require a mana cost to activate (i.e. Seal of Removal, Seal of Fire)? I notice you seldom make these types of cards now a days but I enjoy playing with them in constructed Magic.

R&D isn’t super happy with his they play, so we do them infrequently.
