Sapphire Medallion

Modern Legal Date for Reprints

Hi Mark, I have a weird question about card legality.
For context, as of All Will Be One, new cards become legal "as soon as you have them" so that you can play with them as soon as you get them from the pre-release.But with MH3, that set reprints cards that already exist. So, on what day are the reprinted cards legal in Modern? If I were to somehow get my hands on MH3 product before pre-release, I would be able to take that to a tournament and it would be legal. Would that also mean I could take a Sapphire Medallion from Commander Masters to a tournament ahead of the pre-release?

Reprints become legal the day the set comes out.

Silver Border Mechanics

Since you had an idea for a card with -1 in its mana cost, could silver-border Magic produce something like "If I have a Sapphire Medallion and cast Unsummon, I pay U and add 1 to my mana pool?" or do non-silver-border cards function the same way in silver land.

Nonsilver bordered cards function the same except that there are aspects that matter in silver bordered world that don’t in black bordered (such as who the artist is).
