Reprinting High Demand Cards

New 22 Jul 2023 Asked by taco-the-magic-dragon 45 Comments

"What history has shown us is the more we push in new directions and increase the options available to the players, the happier the audience, as a whole, seems to be."
Then why can't you guys print high demand cards more? For reference, Flooded Strand was release over 20 years ago but only has 5 total printings. Thats 1 print ever 4 years. That's extremely disheartening because I want to play the game, but the game pieces are so hard to get.

You’re comparing apples and oranges. I’m talking about pushing in new directions to expand what players are capable of building thematically. That said, we’re constantly reprinting cards. There’s just lots of cards to reprint. Magic is both a game and a collectible, so we’re trying to strike a balance between the two elements. Also, there are cards that dream of having five reprints. : )

Art Request

New 20 Sep 2022 Asked by mrmoustachemm 37 Comments

I'd like to request reprints of Glacial Fortress, Hallowed Fountain, and Flooded Strand, all with Jace wandering around in the art please! (So I can have some decent mana fixing when I add the new Jace to my all-Jace deck, in which every card has Jace in the art)

I’ll pass the request along. : )

Community Names of Card Cycles

New 23 Sep 2021 Asked by deyuil 61 Comments

How does Wizards feel about the community names of card cycles? It feels like they've just recently started referring to card cycles by their community given names more. The first thing we were told about Modern Horizons 2 was that it would have the "enemy fetchlands", and the packaging of the booster packs themselves even specifically point out the drop rate of a foil retro fetchland. Now, with Unfinity, the only three things we know for sure are that it will be space themed, it will have full-art space themed basic lands, and that it will have space themed full art "Shocklands". I feel like the Ravnica sets we've been to so far have never really marketed the Shocklands as a selling point specifically before by name, and I don't remember any of the marketing for Khans of Tarkir specifically naming something like Flooded Strand a "fetchland". Has there been an active change to start using terms like fetchland and shockland in official announcements, and previously Wizards didn't want to use them, or am I looking too much into this?

I’ve used the terms in things like articles for a long time. Maybe it’s a slight shift in marketing?

Vorthos Concern

New 28 Dec 2014 Asked by freddeichler 29 Comments

My inner Vorthos is screaming in pain for the Spring when I'm drafting Dragons of Tarkir and in my Fate Reforged pack I open a Kahns Flooded Strand.

Why exactly? How does Sarkhan’s journey alter that?

Art Display Issue

New 02 Sep 2014 Asked by jspencer91 8 Comments

I think the previous poster was talking about how the art was displayed at the prerelease party. Flooded Strand was next to Polluted Delta - and the blues of the cards went together. But then it was next to Windswept Heath, and the black of the Polluted Delta was adjacent to the green of Windswept Heath. Not my opinion, but my interpretation of what the OP was trying to say.

The editors never saw the layout of the cards on the screen if that was the issue.
