Un-cards in Commander Playgroup

New 28 Jun 2022 Asked by slayfrosty 59 Comments

Mark, I thought it'd make you happy to know my commander playgroup uses Un- cards freely with black border. One of us has an X deck, where X is the only Un-card in it aside from a Very Cryptic Command. One of us has an Ydris, Maelstrom Wielder deck that uses contraptions as well (and it's very mean, I'll have you know :P). And I use Buzzing Whack-a-doodle in my Pir and Toothy deck as its only Un-card!

Happy to hear that.

"Rings a Bell" Rules

I think you misunderstood the question: The previous QM was trying to ask-- when I cast "Rings a bell", do I have to tell my opponents what word I picked?

Yes, you have to tell them. Choosing something is public information. If it isn’t it says “secretly choose” like Buzzing Whack-a-Doodle.

Unstable Appreciation

There are so many amazing cards in Unstable that I can hardly believe it's real. And to think I was sceptical regarding if a third Un-set would be a good idea! Now that I've seen it I'm completely convinced it's gonna be amazing, and I wanted to say thank you so much for making mind-game cards like "Buzzing Whack-a-Doodle"! Unstable is gonna make playing Magic infinitely more awesome!

Thank you.

What makes Buzzing Whack-a-Doodle unworkable in black-border?

It’s on the borderline. Being silver border allows us to push it as it’s not the kind of card we’d probably want in the finals of a Pro Tour.
