RE Tezzeret as a Vedalken: The asker was asking about Tezzeret being a Vedalken in species, the same way that Tamiyo is a Moonfolk, Ajani is a cat, Tibalt is a Devil/Human hybrid, Kiora is a Merfolk, Karn is a Golem, Nicol Bolas is a Dragon, Nissa is an Elf, Sorin is a Vampire, Vraska is a Gorgon, and Xenagos is/was a Satyr.

That is a Doug question.

Planeswalker Racial Diversity

Why was Tezzeret not a Vedalken walker? I feel like that was a missed opportunity to add to the racial diversity of walkers and it could be difficult to implent a Vedalken walker flavorfully without tying it to artifacts.

The same reason Ajani is not a cat and Karn is not an artifact. Planeswalker-ness overrides lesser labels.
