Tenacity

Gratitude Expressed

In a recent round of job interviews I was asked who I found inspiring, and you were the person who sprung to my mind! Your tenacity with Wizards led to your job with the Duelist and working your way up to head designer of the largest tcg. That coupled with your willingness to take that initial risk and now how you share your knowledge with everyone via your podcasts is inspiring :) Thanks!

That’s very nice of you to say. Thank you.

Black's Role in Abzan

New 12 Sep 2014 Asked by ulyssseswkamil 40 Comments

Can you explain how Black fits into Abzan's character, especially in an individual's case? I was under the assumption Black was linked with selfishness, but all members of the Abzan seem to be wholly selfless regarding their families

Abzan is selfish about its group. Yes, it’s kind to Abzan but extends no such niceties to anyone else. Black also adds a tenacity to do what needs to be done to endure.

Persistent Questioning

Oh dear! Sorry if I was annoying you, I just thought it was constantly getting buried under other questions. I'll remove myself from the game.

You weren’t annoying me. You just asked a question that I didn’t have a good answer for so I didn’t answer it. I was actually impressed by your tenacity.

Star Format Acknowledgement

New 15 Apr 2012 Asked by dconquist 6 Comments

I'm a big fan of the Star format for Magic. Do you think Wizards will ever formally recognize that format with a separate expansion, as it did with Commander? I notice there are a few enemy colour targeting spells (Deathmark, Combust, Flashfreeze etc), at least one for each colour, in Magic 2012. They don't seem to be too popular or useful... But they're great for making decks for a Star game.

I have no answer for your question because it’s an area outside of my expertise, but you have a tenacity that is admirable. Since I doubt anyone but me knows this, dcconquist has been asking this question for what I think is weeks (or maybe it just feels that way. :) ) I think the biggest strike against the format is that it requires exactly five players which makes it a bit restrictive.  I just felt like you deserved an answer for sticking with it.
