Color Pie Adjustment

New 20 Dec 2022 Asked by solaris-adz 36 Comments

Hello Mark! Now that blue has vigilance consistently, how does this affect Serra Sphinx's place in the color pie? Is it a creature we could see nowadays, or does it have something blue vigilance creatures don'r get? (Like a big body or the fact that ir flies)

Serra Sphinx is now color pie correct.

Serra Sphinx in Blue's Pie

Is serra sphinx being added to blue's color pie? Could we see it reprinted in standard if the flavor made sense?

The flavor is wonky. The card mechanically is now in blue’s color pie.

Hi Mark! With blue vigilance is Serra Sphinx now possible in the color pie? Maybe a little smaller at the same cost.

I can’t speak to the mana cost, but the card is now in-pie for blue.

Alternate Reality Sets

While an alternate color pie is out of the question, would another alternate reality set be possible? It could focus much more on cards similar to Crovax, Ascendant Hero or the Serra Sphinx, showing a world where each character went down a different path.

This is much more possible than a color pie warping set.

Is Serra Sphinx a color pie break?

It’s a bend more than a break. Blue can untap its own creatures which is similar to vigilance.

Serra Sphinx Color Pie

Serra Sphinx would be a color pie violation outside of Planar Chaos yes?

Yes, but only because of vigilance which isn’t a Blue thing.
