Plasm Capture

UG Creature Removal

Hi Mark! Would it be possible to introduce a UG creature removal that actually results in a 1-for 1? No bounce. Destroy or exile with a negative effect attached to it, that doesn't give a creature back. I really like the Idea of giving your opponent the creature's cmc in mana back next turn. Like a negative Plasm Capture as payment. Reality Shift and Rapid Hybridization are just not fit to deal with cheap creatures.

The problem is neither Blue nor Green can destroy creatures. The closest you get is Blue destroying as a technical means to then replace it with another creature.

Future Mana Drains

Every now and again a new Mana Drain / Drain Power type effect comes out, like Scattering Stroke or Plasm Capture. Might we see more of these in the future?

Maybe. : )

Control Strategies Appreciation

Despite all the complaints about the power level of creatures compared to spells, and the weakening of counterspells over the years, I have to tell you that I really appreciate Return to Ravnica block for all the awesome control tools it brought. AEtherling and Plasm Capture feel like a love letter to old-school control, and Supreme Verdict brings some of Wrath of God's finality back to board sweepers. We control types may whine a lot, but I like to think we're not completely ungrateful. Thanks!

You hit upon a point I keep trying to make which is control isn’t just about spells. There are creatures that also work well in a deck with a control strategy.
