Overbeing of Myth

Demigods and Legendaries

Mark, was there some reasoning behind the cycle of demigods from Shadowmoor & Eventide (ex. Overbeing of Myth) not being legendary? The Seer's Parables seems to imply they are singular beings. Also, possibly related, how much more difficult is design when Legendary is simultaneously a severe downside in most formats, but required for Commander?

They weren’t legendary because we wanted people to be able to play with multiples. Note Commander wasn’t a big thing yet. Legendary is a huge pain because you make different groups unhappy when you make others happy.

Colorful CMC Creatures

Other creatures with all 5 CMC requiring coloured mana: The Spirit Avatar cycle from Shadowmoor/Eventide (Demigod of Revenge, Deus of Calamity, Ghastlord of Fugue, Godhead of Awe, Ghastlord of Fugue, Deity of Scars, Divinity of Pride, Dominus of Fealty, Nobilis of War, and Overbeing of Myth). So there's another 10.

Check the article. It now mentions them. : )

Card Abilities Explained

New 13 Mar 2017 Asked by kuroikoinu 38 Comments

Maro, Masumaro, First to Live and Sage of Ancient Lore are all monogreen whose power and toughness are tied to the number of cards in hand. And green allows card draw as long as its tied to a creature, right? So Overbeing of Myth shouldn't even be a bend for being playable in monogreen...

The Maro ability is firmly in Blue and Green. The repeatable draw on a creature is much more blue than green. Green tends to have its card drawing tied to creatures more elaborately than just having the effect on a creature.

Hybrid Card Design

How is Overbeing of Myth valid in mono-green?

Hybrid designs in the volume of Shadowmoor block require some strong bends.
