Mirror World Trope

New 04 Aug 2023 Asked by tybonel13 34 Comments

Do you think Magic will ever try the mirror world/mirror universe trope, or did Lorwyn/Shadowmoor already take that spot? I'm thinking either a new plane that's the "inverse" of a familiar one, or a new plane that has both aspects and some way to access one from the other, Stranger Things/ToTK Depths style.

Lorwyn/Shadowmoor is that trope.

Divine Intervention and Tournament Issues

New 10 Mar 2020 Asked by tbjanowski 35 Comments

Divine Intervention was only banned from August 1994 till October 1999. Same time frame as Mirror Universe and Underworld Dreams, one of which was recently reprinted in Standard the other that while not able to be reprinted has had similar effects printed. There were some real special cards on that list like Ali from Cairo, Sword of the Ages and Dingus Egg. So saying a card was banned as one point in time is really not a relevant argument for it being unfun.

I didn’t say it was unfun. I said it caused problems in tournaments. That said, I do believe drawing games is not particularly fun. That just wasn’t what I argued.

Alternate Universe Maros

Are there any other alt-universe Maros we should know about? The lady version of Maro (FeMaRo)? Mirror universe Maro (MiRo)?

Time for another trivia question. There’s a character in Magic (who got their own legendary creature card) named after me but the name was reversed and one of the letters was changed. Who was it?

Evil vs Bizarro

You recently answered a question using a mirror universe joke. This makes me wonder: Is Evil Mark Rosewater the same as Bizarro Mark Rosewater, or are they two differen't people?

Two different people. Bizarro Mark was answering my Twitters for a while about a year ago. Evil Mark has guest authored a few columns. Evil Mark is much smarter than Bizarro Mark.

Bolded Titles

New 19 Jul 2012 Asked by silverbrush-artist-deactivated2 22 Comments

Why is the word "Magic" (in reference to Magic: the Gathering) bolded every single time it is used? (On the WotC site, your blog, etc.) I find it to be a bit distracting as sometimes I skip entire sentences to look at the bolded "Magic". Also, doesn't it get tedious to bold that one word all the time?

Just for you, I’m allowing you to peek into a mirror universe where everything is backwards. Does this make you enjoy Magic more or less?
