Loose Lips Creature Enchantment

New 16 Jul 2022 Asked by chazashley175 42 Comments

Hi Mark! Unrules question. I enchant a creature with Loose Lips and the sentence I use is, "I concede the game". If my opponents say it to prevent the card draw, does that actually count as them conceding the game?

It does not.

Understanding 'Protection from Loose Lips'

One variant of the Knight of the Kitchen Sink has "protection from loose lips" and proceeds to define it. There's also an Aura named Loose Lips, and the guy's mouth is just barely open. Does the protection work due to the name Loose Lips, or the fact that the guy's mouth is barely open in the art?

Technically the latter, but we did check to make sure it did. We would have probably used a different name if it hadn’t.

Loose Lips Interactions

There’s an UN card called Loose Lips and a knight with “protection from loose lips” referring to cards with artwork with open mouths. How does this conflict work?

The art of Loose Lips does show an open mouth in its art, so you could not enchant a creature with protection from loose lips with it.

Can the Knight of the Kitchen Sink that has "Protection from loose lips" be enchanted with Loose Lips?

It cannot. Loose Lips has an open mouth in its artwork so it can’t target a Knight of the Kitchen Sink with protection from loose lips.

Un-rules question if I may! For the purposes of "Protection from loose lips," does a smile count as an open mouth?

Not if it’s a closed mouth smile.

Un-Rules question: Can the sentence I select for Loose Lips be a) a tongue-twister or other, hard-to-pronounce sentence or b) in a different language (one that my opponent doesn't speak)? How many tries does my opponent get?

The idea of Loose Lips is they have to remember each turn to say it not that it is hard to say.

Can Loose Lips take advantage of words an opponent has a hard time pronouncing (or failing that, be a tongue twister)? Rakshasa.

It can.

Un-rules: Does the sentence made by Loose Lips have to be grammatically correct?

It has to be an actual sentence so yes.
