Death Baron

Batching Tribals Opinion

Happy Friday, Mark! I was curious about your opinion on "batching" tribals, cards like Death Baron or Lovisa Coldeyes that effect more than one creature type at a time. Is there much design room there, or does it cross the dangerous "just because we can doesn't mean we should" line?

I think it’s interesting, and not particularly dangerous, design space.

Skeleton Tribal Hint

Minotaurs received some love with Kragma Warcaller. Skeletons haven't gotten any, with the exception of Death Baron. Will we be seeing a Skeleton lord in the near feature?

I’ve tried in the past but it hasn’t gotten made. I’ll guess I’ll have to try and bring it back from the grave. : )

Fast Zombies Opinion

I think the term "smart zombie" is a bit off (even though Zombie wizards do exist in mtg like Anathemancer, Death Baron, and Corpse Connoisseur among many others). From my understanding, People are asking for the "fast zombies" that have been showing up in more horror movies as of late rather than the slow shambling ones. I for one would not be against a red/black zombie with haste in the future, that is for sure.

Personally I’m not a fan of fast zombies. They’re existence is more about the needs of video games than a logical extension of the zombie mythos. One of the cool things about a zombie is supposed to be that any average guy could beat a single zombie given a weapon. The problem with zombies isn’t that one is hard to kill but that they keep coming.
