Cromat Trivia Birthday

New 02 Jun 2018 Asked by drsnap23 37 Comments

Hi Mark !! It's finally my birthday today =D Can I have some trivia about Cromat ? (PS : I wore a cardboard crown on my head all day at work, just so you know.)

It’s interesting to note that only two of the five activations of a Cromat are ones we’d do today, the WB and RW ones. We shy away from red granting flying, have retired Regeneration and don’t have green put creatures on top of the library. (Yes, the blue activations mono blue can do, but we try to avoid two color activations that don’t connect to both colors.) Happy Birthday!

Can I get a Maybe :) on a WUBRG Legendary creature with 5 ally colored activated abilities to be the counterpoint to Cromat?

Mark, I've been following you and Doug manually for over a year now, and just got a tumblr account today. My birthday was on the 10th, and I was wondering if you had any trivia on either Cromat, or the Apocalypse disciple/sanctuary/volver cycles.

Mike Elliott designed the Battlemages and I designed the Volvers both during Planeshift design. We knew we couldn’t do both cycles so we put the Battlemages in Planeshift and moved the Volvers to Apocalypse. Happy Belated Birthday!

Colorpie Naming Logic

New 04 Jun 2015 Asked by slowlydryingup 34 Comments

You've said most planeswalkers (and therefore, I assume people in general) are not aware of the colorpie. So why are creatures like Cromat and Chromanticore clearly named after being multicolored?

Those are the names planeswalkers call them. : )

Five-color Planeswalker

Is it foolish to think there will ever be a five-colour Planeswalker? (I really want one to go with my Cromat EDH deck.)

I believe it is something we will one day do. Not necessarily soon, but it does seem inevitable.
