Togglodyte and Splinter Twin

New 29 Aug 2016 Asked by clawlord 15 Comments

Un-rules question: If I enchant my Togglodyte with a Splinter Twin, will it copy the on/off status of the original or always enter the battlefield on?

The copy will start in its initial state as if it were just cast.

Do you see togglodyte as a precursor to the werewolf mechanic?

I didn’t until you mentioned it. I did do both so obviously the idea was in my head.

Togglodyte and DFCs

Togglodyte can work in black-border now that you have double-faced cards... Didn't it inspire DFCs anyway?

Ooh, I didn’t think of it as a double-faced card. Yes, that would work.

Togglodyte Memory Issues

Isn't Togglodyte just a creature that can gain and lose a quality like Monstrous/Hellbent/etc?

The issue with the card is one of memory issues not rules issues. Having a graphical component to aid you in knowing the status was what was non-black border about the card.

Black Border Possibilities

Could a card like Magical Hacker or Togglodyte be printed in a black border set?

Not currently. Maybe one day. What’s considered acceptable for black border keeps changing.
