Blue: What's your favorite joke?

Descartes walks into a bar. The bartender sees that the philosopher looks a little down. “Hey Descartes,” the bartender says, “Can I offer you a free beer?” Descartes replies, “I think not,” and disappears.

Philosopher Stats Query

Either you have changed the baseline stats for a human or travelling philosopher is a mistake. I'm fine with either one being the case, but just admit it then!

Who says the philosopher is a baseline human?

Philosopher Naming Issue

On a recent blogatog discussion, I'd like to share how much I despise Traveling Philosopher. I read that Traveling Philosopher was a forced fit since Creative needed something to be a Philosopher, but then I don't get why you didn't make Setessan Battle Priest the philosopher instead. A platonic bear wrestler is Vorthosian self-destruction and it's the biggest flavor miss in the game - for it seems like you know how to design advising creatures, but not what to name them. So much opportunity...

The creative team was trying to find a way to fit a philosopher in Greek mythology world so they put it on a small vanilla creature. I’m not quite sure it’s the Vorthosian abomination some have made it out to be.

Nerd Vs Geek

Apparently, people on your Tumblr don't know the difference between nerdy and geeky. I never thought I would ask this but... Can you please explain the difference between the two?

I believe that words have a life of their own and that they shift to become what the world sees them as, so understand that I am defining the terms as I feel they’ve evolved. Also, as a word person, it’s important to me that they each have their own connotation rather than just being synonyms. That said, here’s what I see as the difference between nerds and geeks. I believe both are very intelligent and have certain a style of obsession that comes with intelligence, aka the ability to think about things so intently on multiple levels. I believe that nerds obsess in their learning while geeks obsess in their devotion. Nerds revel in understanding things while geeks revel in being connected to things. Nerds are more likely to start a sentence with “Did you know…” while geeks are more likely to start a sentence with “Did you see…”.  By this definition, a nerdy joke is one that requires the listener knows the information the joke is playing off of. (The philosopher Descartes said “I think therefore I am.”) A geeky joke is one that requires the listener to be aware of the reference the joke makes. (In “The Empire Strikes Back”, Han kept Luke alive by putting him inside the tauntaun.) There is a lot of overlap so it’s not hard for someone to be both nerdy and geeky, but it’s also possible to be just nerdy or just geeky. Anyway, that’s how I see it.  I’d be happy to hear people with other definitions.
