Sliver Construct

Sliver Type Discussion

New 19 Jul 2023 Asked by caitsith4 35 Comments

Technically, I'm sure it's been pointed out that Metallic Sliver, Venser's Sliver and Sliver Construct all have the Sliver type without the Sliver ability. The true test I think is whether you could have a creature who is not a Sliver still have a Sliver type. Doable, but a big hoop creatively to jump through. It would have to be a really really cool creature. :)

The Slivers you named aren’t biological Slivers, but constructs made to look like Slivers. Only biological Slivers can mentally share their knowledge.

Erratum on Slivers' Non-Sliver Types

New 22 Jan 2022 Asked by tyranova 46 Comments

Just as a polite correction to "Slivers with non-Sliver types," not counting the two Playtest cards, there have been six non-Sliver types on Slivers: Fungus (Fungus Sliver), Illusion (Mistform Sliver), Trilobite (Scuttling Sliver), Construct (Sliver Construct), Mutant (Sliver Overlord), and Spirit (Spectral Sliver) with the two Playtest cards "technically" adding 2 more (Eldrazi and Dragon) for a combined total of 8/112 (~7% of all Slivers period) or 6/109 (~5.5% of all Slivers legal in most formats) of Slivers that have additional types, which I found interesting to look up (Just in case anyone was curious what other types were added onto Slivers)

Metallic Sliver's Secret

"The Metallic Sliver in Tempest, by the way, was an invention built by Volrath to spy on the Slivers. That is why it is the only one to receive and not grant any abilities." Mark, you just made Sliver Construct cry!

I meant the only on in Tempest block.

Sliver Abilities Clarification

"Metallic Sliver ... only sliver that gets abilities but never grants anything." You made Sliver Construct and Venser's Sliver cry.

Sorry. I meant in the original Tempest block.

Ally Subtype Mechanics

New 16 Jul 2014 Asked by thebechtel 7 Comments

You said think the Ally creature type should have been in Rise of the Eldrazi, but maybe with a different mechanic. Is that possible, or would they not feel like an Ally? I can live with one vanilla Sliver Construct, but giving a sliver a different mechanical ability seems unsliverish to me.

I didn’t say the allies would have a new ability. I just said there would be creature cards with the sub-type Ally.

Sliver Construct Joke

Today I noticed that Sliver Construct is a, well, it's literally a Sliver Construct. Technically Artifact Creature - Sliver Construct but, whatever. Was this an intentional joke or what? 5 stars!

Magic has a history of creatures whose name match their card type. Sliver Construct is just the newest member of the club.
