Policy on Future Un-cards

New 15 Apr 2022 Asked by honor-basquiat 26 Comments

I want to make sure I understand the current policy going forward with future Un-cards. It seems that if a card doesn't have any issues working within the official rules of the game then it will be a traditional black bordered card rather than an Acorn card (but still could be included in an Unset). For example, if Paper Tiger or Poultrygeist were created today, they would NOT be Acorn/Silver bordered. Is that correct? If so, I am a big fan of that policy.

That is the policy.

Errata to Birds

Wait, Flavor Judge is a Bird, not a Chicken? I also notice Poultrygeist, Free-Range Chicken, and Chicken à la King are reprinted, but not Mesa Chicken. Trying to keep Chickens from being spread across 4 colors?

Chickens have officially all been errataed to Bird. That means Chicken-a-la-King ( which is in Unsanctioned) just got a lot stronger.

Blue's Foul Play

What is a good way to explain to a friend why you are annoyed that they throw "fowl play"s into their mono blue decks to deal with your creatures? I don't want to ban un cards in this playgroup because things like Poultrygeist or Hurloon Wrangler (which will always get through on me), are fun.

Blue has black-bordered cards that do similar things. I’m not sure your concern with Fowl Play.
