Gold Mana with Manalith

New 21 Jan 2018 Asked by birdofablackfeather 29 Comments

ultradinosaurdude asked: In a game of Un-format, can I use Manalith to add one Gold mana to my color pool (because of Sword of D&D's token)?Sure. For all intents and purposes, it’s colorless (except you can’t use it to pay specifically colorless costs). It would work with Sunburst though, wouldn't it?

Yes.

Punny Names Pronunciation

New 26 Jan 2016 Asked by zeussical 33 Comments

How do you feel about the fact that the punny names of Manakin and Manalith require different pronunciations of "Mana"?

I pronounce both as if “mama” rhymes with “bandana”.

Mana Artifacts Cost

New 23 Dec 2012 Asked by homoduplex-deactivated20130421 1 Comments

With mana artifacts, are they supposed to cost two mana total when you subtract how much mana they make? Like, Gilded Lotus adds 3 to your mana pool and costs 5 (5 - 3 = 2), Manalith adds 1 and costs 3 (3 - 1 = 2), etc.

There’s no set formula.

Common Artifacts Trend

New 17 Jun 2012 Asked by xanderxela-deactivated20190410 3 Comments

So far we haven't seen any common artifacts in M13 and Magic 2012 had, to my knowledge, only a single common artifact (Manalith) is this a deliberate trend with core sets or a part of new world order?

Artifacts since the beginning were not meant to be all that common. Yes, we’ll do a few at common in some sets, but unless the set has an artifact theme, we tend not to have too many common artifacts.
