Lys Alana Huntmaster

Reason Behind Tribal's End

I still don't entirely get why you guys got rid of tribal to begin with. Having done the MTGO Lorwyn flashback on repeat recently, it always felt like it led to fun and interesting gameplay. (Like Eyeblight's Ending triggering your Lys Alana Huntmaster, an interaction that's just as fun in EMA, as well as being able to grab a Nameless Inversion off any of the Harbingers.) I feel like it's absence is particularly missed in SOI. (Though I think SOI could also have done with some Changlings.)

The problem is once we say, for instance, a Vampire themed instant or sorcery is a Tribal card, it requires a lot of extra work to identify and label everything that qualifies and what we found out was that it didn’t matter the vast majority of the time. This was even true in Innistrad design where we had tribal elements. It was making sets harder to make and harder to track for not enough gain.
