Ornaments Gift Tradition

Really? Loxodon Warhammer and not Goblin Snowman or Arcum's Sleigh or Adarkar Valkyrie or...

95% of my ornaments (including all the Magic card ones) are gifts meaning I didn’t chose the cards in questions.

M10 Rules Changes

New 15 Nov 2014 Asked by meandering-monotreme 17 Comments

Didn't the M10 rules changes involve functional changes caused by errata (eg with lifelink, especially Loxodon Warhammer)?

Changing rules is not the same thing as issuing errata. A card with lifelink still has lifelink. The card never says something other than what it does.

Chroma vs Devotion

New 10 Dec 2013 Asked by bobbymcbobbo 4 Comments

Chroma, as used on Primalcrux, has the definition of devotion. It wouldn't be a functional change, unless something specifically looks for the keyword Devotion in one of the upcoming sets. Do you not do those types of changes anymore after what happened with Loxodon Warhammer/Lifelink?

Chroma is an ability word while devotion is a keyword which means they work slightly differently. Primalcrux cannot technically have devotion.

Loxodon Warhammer Change

New 04 Oct 2013 Asked by sirgog-blog 5 Comments

Changing Loxodon Warhammer to lifelink is a functional change, however, as lifelink isn't cumulative. As printed in Mirrodin, two Warhammers on one 2/2 creature means you gain 16 life when you attack, now it's 8.

At the time we changed it that wasn’t true, but as we printed the card with lifelink we’ve chosen to match functionality to the latest printing.

Card Errata Explained

New 04 Oct 2013 Asked by greenpm33 24 Comments

Why is it that Loxodon Warhammer has been errated to give likelink, but Armadillo Cloak hasn't?

Because Armadillo Cloak can be put onto opponent’s creatures and Loxodon Warhammer, as an equipment cannot (well, not easily). Giving Armadillo Cloak lifelink would functionally change the card. Now you can put Armadillo Cloak on an opponent’s creature to stop the damage (because you gain the life not the creature’s controller). If we changed it to lifelink, you could not.

Warhammer Function Change

No Mark, sorry, but you are mistaken on this one. Loxodon Warhammer was functionally changed by giving it lifelink. The original print of Loxodon Warhammer in Mirrodin had a triggered effect that works like Spirit Link. It even mattered more in some cases when the opponent "stole" it through Magnetic Theft and similar effects. This shows WotC has a conflicting policy on reprints and gives leverage to the case that Armadillo Cloak could have been printed in GTC with lifelink.

The change of Loxodon Warhammer is considered a mistake.

Lifelink Definition Debate

New 07 May 2013 Asked by ingenkhoobor 15 Comments

"Lifelink has never done that." No, It DID do that; it doesn't do that NOW. It was errata'd. Why is it okay to errata lifelink to be a rider on damage when it was originally a triggered ability, but not okay to say it is functional errata? Tenth Edition Loxodon Warhammer demonstrates the "old" version.

No, Spirit Link did that. Lifelink did not and never has.

No Armadillo Cloak Errata

New 06 May 2013 Asked by themastah 8 Comments

Why not reprint Armadillo Cloak and errata it to have lifelink, like you did with Loxodon Warhammer?

Because we no longer do functional errata (aka changing how the card functions with errata).
