Mechanics for Aetherborn Tribe

Aetherborn have this cool concept of live fast die young, but only some of them reflect this mechanically. It makes sense that they'd be living off of borrowed time and some sort of vanishing/fading like mechanic. My question is, how would you design a mechanic to unify the tribe more? Elves love making mana, hydras love them some +1/+1 counters, and Aetherborn _______


The perfect mechanic for them would probably be Vanishing. They’re only on the battlefield for a limited amount of time.

Energy Counter Utilization

Currently there's a lot of ways to make energy counters at common (Sage of Shaila's Claim, two Puzzleknots, Live Fast) but only one way to use them (Die Young). Will Aether Revolt provide any energy sinks at common?


There are a whole bunch of ways to use Energy counters at common - ten cards other than Die Young.

Live Fast Card Query

Mark, the card Live Fast has you draw two cards, lose two life, and gain two energy. The gain two energy bit doesn't do anything without another energy card. I agree, it's no Evermind, but you're gaining a resource that has no game-use?


The vast majority of cards that get you energy let you spend it. Live Fast is the exception not the rule.
