Kenessos, Priest of Thassa

Devotion Colors

Hey Mark! Been a big fan of your blog for a long time. I recently bought some Jumpstart 2022 and pulled Kenessos, Priest of Thassa. I found it kind of odd that a priest of the mono-blue God had a green/blue hybrid pip on it. Are religious leaders of the Pantheon able to have color identities seperate from their Gods?

Yes, as the Gods only care that all the mana is their color, not that it’s also another color. If every mana pip counts as devotion for them, they’re good.

Thank you to whoever designed Kenessos, Priest of Thassa! Not only have I always wanted this character on a card, but I've been requesting a Sea Monster Commander for years now - and I now have both in one card! YAY!

Glad you’re enjoying it.
