Would Illusions of Grandeur still be Blue? Or what color would its effect fall too?

It wasn’t blue (colorpiewise) when it was printed. It’s white or green.

About life gain, do the old cards like Illusions of Grandeur still considered in blue color pie? If not, what color it would be nowadays.

It wasn’t blue when it got made. I tried to keep it out of blue, but failed. EDIT: Oops, I tried to stop the throwback one. The original was Ice Age which predated me.

Birthday Trivia! Huzzah! Do you have a trivium about ramp or illusions that you'd like to share? :)

One of my favorite illustrations is for Illusions of Grandeur (from Ice Age). Few people I’ve learned notice the bunny in the picture. It’s what the dragon truly is.Happy Birthday!

Magic's Use of 20

Hello Mark! It is my 20th birthday! Do you have any trivia on the use of 20 in Magic, other than life totals, or twins in magic?

Illusions of Grandeur is a famous Magic enchantment that gives you 20 life when you cast it and you lose 20 life when it leaves the battlefield. It has Cumulative upkeep of 2 to make sure it eventually goes away. The card was most famous for being in a deck called Trix where you Donated the card to your opponent who lost 20 life when they could no longer pay the cumulative upkeep (or you destroyed the card). Most people notice the dragon in the art but many miss the bunny. See, the wizard that has cats the card is making a bunny have the illusion of being a dragon. Happy 20th Birthday!

Red's Temporary Effects

New 19 Feb 2015 Asked by crumbbycrumb 14 Comments

Is it possible that the Illusions of Grandeur effect be red? Maybe on a creature rather than an enchantment, to make it feel more fragile and temporary.

Gaining something when a permanent enters the battlefield and you lose it when it leaves the battlefield is not the kind of temporary that red normally does.

Red's Temporary Powers

So if red now gets temporary versions of other colors' effects, could it do a sort of "temporary lifegain" along the lines of Illusions of Grandeur?

I don’t want to do temporary things that can last longer than a turn. That doesn’t feel temporary to me.
