Hero of Bladehold

White's Four-Mana Magic

But being the best at big spells include being able to ramp or to cheat them into play, things that white normally isn't good at all, but I get your point. One thing I've noticed is that with 4 mana White starts doing some pretty strong stuff (Smothering Tithe, Angelic Exaltation, Jazal Goldmane, Ressurrection/False Defeat/Breath of Life, Hero of Bladehold, Settle the Wreckage and so on). What's the explanation for that 4-mana-boundary? Is that something particular to White or not?

White isn’t best at big spells.

Female Representation

I love the addition of email posts. On-topic, Magic does reasonably with female representation---probably the easiest-to-spot issue is irrationally low amounts of clothing in some of the art (e.g., Hero of Bladehold not wearing armor). I heard Brady on the AVR PAX panel mention the challenges of creative freedom for contractors, so I'm sure you're doing what you can.

For those that didn’t hear Brady speak, let me touch upon this issue. Remember that all of our art is done by contractors and that we try hard to give our artists a lot of creative freedom. What we get from this is the amazing art that is one of the best in the industry. The downside though is that this freedom doesn’t allow us as much control over the art itself. Overall, we feel this trade is worth it but it is one of the things that makes it harder to control certain art issues.
