Un-Question: Is GO TO JAIL in color pie in black border world? Can white get Delay-style effects?

Yes. All Un-cards are designed to be in color pie.

Dice Rolling Preferences

Personally I’m not a huge fan of die rolling in Magic. However, I understand why others enjoy it and see it is good for the game. On the other hand, I do not think a card should force an opponent to roll dice; as this would now get rid of my ability to play the game how I would want. What do you think?

The only one I can think of is GO TO JAIL, and I’ll stand by that design. I agree it isn’t something we should do often.

A MDFC where one side is a creature and the other a get out of jail free card: too much power for current standard?

Not once we introduce the Go To Jail mechanic.

Exile Mechanic

I asked about GO TO JAIL-ing a creature my opponent received due to a side quest---you gave an answer as if it were a Pacifism effect, but the card isn't an Aura, it's a Banishing Light-style effect. Having read the FAQ, it looks like the creature goes into exile, but does the "at the beginning of the upkeep of the exiled card's owner" trigger happen in the other game? I'm guessing not?

Oops. It’s not an aura. At the beginning of its owner’s turn, they get it back. It doesn’t matter if it’s in exile.

Multiple Dice Rolls

How does Krark's Other Thumb work eith multiple dice rolls like in GO TO JAIL or Ol' Buzzbark?

For each die, roll two dice and choose one of them to count. If you’re rolling multiple dice, I recommend making each pair of dice a separate color so you know which ones go together.

GO TO JAIL Rules

New 11 Dec 2017 Asked by aesir-blade 28 Comments

If I GO TO JAIL a creature an opponent has received from Side Quest, is it sent back immediately, exiled permanently, or does its owner in its original game have to roll to get it out?

Auras and augments travel back with the creature. They return to you whenever one of the game ends.

The Un-converted

Hey Mark my wife and I went to an unstable draft tonight. I played a deck where all but 5 creatures flew and ended up with FOUR GO TO JAIL. I used to be an un set hater because after the draft my cards would be useless but this feels so close to black border it's great.

I’m happy to hear from so many Un-converted players. : ) As I’ve been saying for months, Unstable is a set you have to experience to truly understand it.

Did GO TO JAIL ever have Vanishing 3?

It did not.

Complexity Humor

New 27 Nov 2014 Asked by trifas 45 Comments

If you know that complexity is what can really kill Magic, why don't you make every card in every set extremely complex? Is there something stopping you from killing Magic?

I have to be subtle about it. I’m not trying to go to jail or anything.
