The Royal Scions

Rules Around Number of Types

New 01 May 2024 Asked by thunderweb 64 Comments

Can the rule care about the number of types a card or a permanent has?- "The Royal Scions" would have 1 card type(Planeswalker), and 2 planeswalker subtypes(Rowan and Will)- "Go-Shintai of Ancient Wars" would have 1 supertype(Legendary), 2 card types(Enchantment and Creature), 1 enchantment subtype(Shrine), and 0 creature subtypes

Yes.

Planeswalker Card Rule

New 20 Apr 2024 Asked by lookingupanddown 24 Comments

Under the current one-planeswalker-per-set rule, could we ever get something like The Royal Scions where there are multiple characters on one card?

We could. Note the one planeswalker per set rule is the current default. As Outlaws of Thunder Junction shows, we can have more than one.

Dual Legends Planeswalkers

In March of the Machine we got legendary creature cards with two legends depicted in the art, name and similar abilities that the original legendaries had. Is it unrealistic to see planeswalkers printed the similar way? For example in Throne of eldraine we got The Royal Scions for Will and Rowan. Flavor wise it was one of my favorite cards to play with on Arena just from the voice lines of the two characters bickering with one another.

It’s on the table if there’s a reason to do it.

Card Types Ordering

New 07 Jul 2023 Asked by thunderweb 38 Comments

Are there rules on how card types and subtypes are ordered?- Dryad Arbor: "Land Creature" vs "Creature Land"- The Reality Chip: "Equipment Jellyfish" vs "Jellyfish Equipment"- The Royal Scions: "Will Rowan" vs "Rowan Will"

That’s an editing question, but I assume there are rules. I don’t know them. My guess is Rowan and Will’s order was based on the art.

Multiple Planeswalkers on Cards

New 13 Dec 2020 Asked by otto-von-bensmarck-blog 61 Comments

Can I request more Planeswalker cards like The Royal Scions that depict multiple planeswalkers together? Or was that only done because the twins share a spark?

It requires a strong flavor reason, but it’s not off the table.

Gatewatch Planeswalkers Duo

New 14 Nov 2019 Asked by adventmtg 54 Comments

Wrenn and Six and The Royal Scions are two very interesting Planeswalkers! Do you think it's a "when" or an "if" that we'll see two members of the gatewatch on the same planeswalker card?

I’d say more when than if, but we need a good story reason.

Royal Scions Ordering

Why is Will's name listed first on the royal scions card? Isn't Rowan supposed to be the face of the set?

I believe because Will is pictured on the left side of the art.

Wallpaper Request

I would like to express my disappointment that the royal scions have not yet received a Wednesday wallpaper treatment. How should I do so?

Here is fine.

Royal Scions Naming

New 28 Sep 2019 Asked by gus-goose 33 Comments

Why was the decision made to name Will and Rowan’s card The Royal Scions instead of “the Kenrith twins” or something similar? I find it odd that there is no proper name in the card title.

Rowan and Will already each has a planeswalker card with their name. And their names get included in the card type line.

Planeswalkers on One Card

Could two planeswalkers working closely together be enough of a flavor justification to put them together on a card? (like the Royal scions)

Possibly.

Toolbox Expansion

New 27 Sep 2019 Asked by exyil 50 Comments

With Will and Rowan sharing a card as The Royal Scions, is cards featuring 2 Planeswalkers a new tool in your toolbox, or just a one off thing due to them sharing a spark?

It’s a tool. The flavor needs to make sense.
