Steady Progress

Color of Proliferate

New 17 May 2015 Asked by inspired-kettchup 25 Comments

What color would a card that just said "Proliferate" as its only rules text be? Blue (due to Steady Progress)? Colorless, even, since proliferate was on artifacts and all colors except white?

In Scars of Mirridon block, proliferate was centered in Blue so that’s the color I’d put it in.

Card Naming Practice

This could be a bit more of a question for Creative, but when designing cards, especially in top-down blocks, do you ever make a conscious effort to give more setting-neutral names to cards that may be reprinted in future sets, so as to make future theming easier? Something like Steady Progress comes to mind--the name makes sense, but also doesn't limit it to Mirrodin/Phyrexia, since progress could happen on any plane.

We will often mark cards we think are repeatable to make sure creative gives them names that are more general to work on other worlds.

Half Counters

Let's say I've enchanted my Bad Ass with Phyresis, making it a 3.5/1 creature with infect. If I attack with him and he's unblocked, will he give the opponent three and a half poison counters? If I attack with him and a Wall of Denial blocks him, does the wall get three -1/-1 counters and a -.5/-.5 counter? And can I use Steady Progress to get my opponent up to five poison counters by giving him an additional poison counter AND an additional half of a poison counter?

Yes, all those half things happen. I answered your question mostly to comment on how much I like you photo. : )
